''party'' 這個(gè)詞是否能概括外國所有的聚會(huì)形式呢? ''party'' 有哪些近義詞,又有什么區(qū)別呢?我們來看一下。

1. party : a social event when a lot of people meet together to enjoy themselves by eating, drinking, dancing etc.

例:

We're having a party for Lily's 40th birthday. (我們要為莉莉辦 40 歲生日派對(duì)。)

I met my boyfriend at a party. (我是在一個(gè)派對(duì)上認(rèn)識(shí)我男朋友的。)

2. get-together : an informal party 小聚

例:

Christmas is the perfect time for a family get-together. (圣誕節(jié)是家庭小聚的大好時(shí)機(jī)。)

備注:

''get-together'' 是名詞,去掉連接符后的 ''get together'' 是動(dòng)詞,也是“小聚”的意思。

例:

We must get together for a drink. (我們得聚聚喝上一杯。)

3. ball : a large formal party where people dance 舞會(huì)

例:

The University holds a ball at the end of June. (該大學(xué) 6 月底都舉辦舞會(huì)。)

例:

8. do : a party

備注:這是英式英語的口語用法,這里的 ''do'' 是名詞。

例:

We're having a do to celebrate Kate's 30th birthday. (我們要為凱特辦 30 歲生日派對(duì)。)

9. rave : a large party which is held outside or in an empty building, where people dance to music and take illegal drugs 狂歡派對(duì)(年輕人徹夜狂歡、喧鬧甚至吸毒)

例:
