1. start: to make something start happening

例:

The police have already started an investigation. (警方已經(jīng)開始調(diào)查。)

The referee couldn't start the game because there were fans on the field. (有球迷在賽場內(nèi),裁判無法開賽。)

4. get/start/set the ball rolling: to begin an activity or event or make sure it continues
