“幫別人的忙”,英語還能怎么說?

1. do somebody a favour : to do something to help someone, especially a friend or someone you know well

備注: ''do somebody a favour'' 是英式英語的用法,美式英語中常作 ''do somebody a favor''

例:

Could you do me a favor and mail these letters for me? (幫我把這些信寄了好嗎?)

She's always doing favors for us. (她經(jīng)常幫我們的忙。)

do somebody a big favor (=help someone a lot)

They did us a big favor by letting us stay there, you know. (你知道,他們讓我們住在他們家,真是幫了我們大忙了。)

2. help out : to help someone do something, especially because there are not enough people to do all the work

例:

The least we can do is to help her out now. (現(xiàn)在,我們至少該給她幫幫手。)

Their son used to help out in the shop when it was busy. (以前,店里忙不過來的時(shí)候,他們的兒子會(huì)來幫忙。)

Organizing the school trip will be a lot of work, so I need some volunteers to help out. (組織學(xué)生集體旅行要費(fèi)很大的勁兒,所以我需要幾個(gè)志愿者來幫忙。)

help out with

The kids are always good about helping out with the chores. (孩子們是幫忙做家務(wù)的好手。)

help somebody out

While I'm gone, try to help your Mom out, OK? (我不在的時(shí)候,你要多幫媽媽干活,知道了嗎?)

help out somebody

No need to thank me—I was just glad to help out a friend. (不用謝,能幫上朋友的忙,我很開心。)

3. do somebody a good turn : to help someone by doing something for them that they have not asked you to do, because you think they need your help and you want to help them

例:

She's always happy to do a stranger a good turn. (她總是樂于幫助陌生人。)

He did me a good turn when he advised me not to sell my house—it's worth twice as much now. (那會(huì)兒,他建議我別賣房子,真是太有見地了——現(xiàn)在房子市值翻了一番。)

4. do your bit : to do what you can to help in a bad or difficult situation, especially because you think you are expected to do it or that it is your duty

備注: ''do your bit'' 常用于英式英語中,美式英語中常作 ''do your part''

例:

I've done my bit—now it's up to you. (我已經(jīng)盡力幫你了,接下來靠你自己了。)

do your bit for

Brown feels that she's done her part for the Democratic Party. (布朗覺得對(duì)于民主黨她已經(jīng)算仁至義盡了。)

5. come to somebody's aid/assistance : to offer to help someone who is in difficulty and who will not be able to continue without your help

備注: ''come to somebody's aid/assistance'' 是正式的用法。

例:

It took an ambulance 27 minutes to come to the aid of the accident victims. (救護(hù)車花了 27 分鐘趕到車禍現(xiàn)場(chǎng)。)

Many expect the central government to come to the assistance of the ailing car industry. (大家希望中央政府幫助重振頹廢的汽車工業(yè)。)

6. give help/assistance/support : to help a person or group

例:

give help/assistance/support to

The program gives assistance to unemployed mothers and their children. (這個(gè)計(jì)劃幫助了沒有收入的婦女和她們的孩子。)

give somebody help/assistance/support

My family gave me very little support when I decided to go back to college. (我決定重新上大學(xué)時(shí),家里人基本沒有幫什么忙。)

Any kind of help you can give would be greatly appreciated. (只要你能幫忙,我們就非常感激。)
