(一)打電話給某人,英文還能怎么說(shuō)?

1. make a call/phone call/telephone call : to use the telephone to speak to someone

例:

Diana made a quick call to Tom before the meeting. (開(kāi)會(huì)前,戴安娜匆匆給湯姆打了個(gè)電話。)

Limit the number of personal phone calls you make at work. (工作時(shí)盡量不要打私人電話。)

There's a pay phone in the lobby if you need to make a telephone call. (要打電話的話,可以用大廳的付費(fèi)公用電話。)

2. be on the phone : to be speaking to someone on the telephone

例:

She's still on the phone. (她還在講電話。)

There's someone on the phone for you. (電話是找你的。)

be on the phone to

He was on the phone to a friend when he noticed the smoke. (注意到煙的時(shí)候,他正在跟朋友講電話。)

be on the phone with

How long are workers on the phone with customers? (工作人員和顧客要講多久的電話?)

talk/speak on the phone

Marie and I talk on the phone at least once a week. (我和瑪麗至少一周通一次電話。)

have somebody on the phone (=to have someone calling you)

Mr Rogers, I have Kate on the phone for you. (羅杰先生,凱特打電話找你。)

3. give somebody a buzz/ring : to telephone someone

備注:這是非正式的用法。英式英語(yǔ)中常用 ''give somebody a bell'' 。

例:

I'll give Larry a buzz. Maybe he'll want to go too. (我給萊瑞打個(gè)電話,他可能也想去。)

Give me a ring if you decide you can come. (如果你定下來(lái)要來(lái),給我打個(gè)電話告訴我。)

Can you give Mary a bell? She rang earlier. (你給瑪麗打個(gè)電話好嗎?她之前打電話找你。)

4. get through : to succeed in reaching someone by telephone

例:

I tried calling my parents, but I couldn't get through. (我想打給我爸媽,但是沒(méi)打通。)

(二)掛掉某人的電話,英語(yǔ)怎么說(shuō)?

1. hang up : to finish a telephone conversation or stop it before it has finished by putting down the receiver

例:

If a caller is rude, just hang up. (如果對(duì)方很沒(méi)禮貌,掛了好了。)

hang up the phone/receiver

I said I'd be right there. I hung up the phone and grabbed my purse and car keys. (我說(shuō)了句“馬上到”,就掛了電話,拿了錢(qián)包和車(chē)鑰匙出去了。)

hang up on somebody (=put the telephone down while someone is still talking)

Mark was furious and hung up on her. (馬克很生氣掛了她的電話。)

2. slam the phone down/slam down the phone : to put the telephone down while someone is still speaking to you, because you are angry 因?yàn)樯鷼舛鴴鞌嚯娫?

例:

Call her. The worst thing she could do is slam down the phone. (打給她,大不了被她掛電話。)

slam the phone down/slam down the phone on somebody

He tried to talk to her, but she slammed the phone down on him. (他想打電話跟她解釋,但是她把電話掛了。)

3. ring off : to end a telephone call

備注: ''ring off'' 是英式英語(yǔ)的用法。

例:

I suppose I'd better ring off now—we've been on the phone for over an hour. (我想我要掛電話了,我們已經(jīng)講了一個(gè)多小時(shí)了。)

4. put the phone down : to put down the receiver after you have finished talking to someone

備注: ''put the phone down'' 是英式英語(yǔ)的用法。

例:

There was a long pause, and she was about to put the phone down when the voice came back again. (雙方都沉默了很久,她正打算掛電話時(shí),對(duì)方又開(kāi)始講話。)
