英文里的“結(jié)束”、“完成一件事”還能怎么表達(dá),我們來(lái)看看。

1. finish off/finish up : to complete an event, performance, piece of work etc. by doing one final thing that is necessary or suitable

例:

Please finish off now. The test will end in three minutes. (請(qǐng)準(zhǔn)備停筆,考試三分鐘后結(jié)束。)

You can finish up the puzzle tomorrow morning. It's time for bed now. (明天再玩拼圖吧,現(xiàn)在該睡覺(jué)了。)

finish off/up something by doing something

We finished off our vacation by spending two days in Santa Fe. (我們假期最后一個(gè)去的地方是圣達(dá)非,在那兒呆了兩天。)

finish off/up something with something

Dan finished up his act with a joke about the Vice-President. (丹的表演快結(jié)束的時(shí)候,講了一個(gè)有關(guān)副總統(tǒng)的笑話(huà)。)

2. finish/end :

例:

Have you finished your homework? (你作業(yè)做完了嗎?)

The builders say they should have finished by Friday. (建筑工人說(shuō)他們必須周五前完工。)

When Sir George finished his speech there was a moment's silence. (喬治先生發(fā)表完演講后,大家沉默了一會(huì)兒。)

finish/end something by doing something

The priest ended the service by saying a short prayer. (牧師最后做了個(gè)簡(jiǎn)短的祈禱。)

finish/end something with something

She ended her recital with an old French song. (她的獨(dú)唱會(huì)最后以一首法語(yǔ)老歌結(jié)束。)

3. wrap something up : to finish something successfully - used especially about agreements or sports competitions

備注: ''wrap something up'' 常用于非正式的場(chǎng)合。

例:

Negotiators are meeting on Friday to wrap up the deal. (談判人員周五會(huì)晤解決這件事。)

Liverpool had several chances to wrap up the game. (這場(chǎng)比賽中,利物浦有幾個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)完美收官的。)

We're hoping to wrap up the negotiations this week. (我們希望這周內(nèi)能協(xié)商出個(gè)結(jié)果來(lái)。)

4. get it over with/get it over and done with : to do something that you have to do now, so that it is finished and you can stop worrying about it

例:

Let's go and do the shopping now and get it over with. (我們現(xiàn)在去買(mǎi)東西,買(mǎi)完就得了。)

Just tell him how you feel and get it over and done with. (就告訴他你是怎么想的,完后你就可以解脫了。)

5. be done/be through : if you are done, you have finished - used especially when other people are waiting for you

備注: ''be done/be through'' 常用于非正式的場(chǎng)合。

例:

We're nearly done. (我們馬上就好了。)

We should be through in half an hour. (我們應(yīng)該在半小時(shí)內(nèi)做完。)

6. be through with something/be done with something : to have finished using something - used especially when other people are waiting to use it

備注: ''be through with something/be done with something'' 常用于非正式的場(chǎng)合。

例:

I'm done with the file. (這份文件我已經(jīng)弄好了。)

I'll let you know when I'm through with it. (我做完會(huì)跟你說(shuō)的。)

7. tie up the loose ends : to finish dealing with the final details of something, so that is all finished

例:

''Is the talk ready?''? ''I just need to tie up a few loose ends.'' - 這個(gè)談話(huà)準(zhǔn)備好了嗎? ? - 只剩一些收尾工作了。)

I need to tie up a few loose ends before I go on vacation. (去度假前,我還要再做幾件事。)

We've nearly finished, but there are still a few loose ends to be tied up. (我們快好了,只有一點(diǎn)收尾工作了。)
