1. once : 曾經(jīng)一度

例:

a sports car once owned by Paul McCartney (一度屬于保羅·麥卡特尼的跑車)

They had met once on holiday, so they knew each other slightly. (他們曾在度假時見過一次面,算是相識。)

She once called me a liar and I've never forgiven her. (她曾經(jīng)稱我為“騙子”,我為此一直沒原諒她。)

I remember once it snowed on my birthday, and I was so excited. (我記得有一次我過生日時下雪了,把我激動的不行。)

Apparently he once worked for the FBI. (明擺著他曾經(jīng)在 FBI 干過。)

Once, when I was a little boy, I found a gold watch on the beach. (我小時候曾經(jīng)在沙灘上撿到過一塊金表。)

2. one time : once 有一次

備注: "one time" 常用于口語中。

例:

I remember coming home from school one time and finding we'd been burgled. (我記得,有一次放學回家,發(fā)現(xiàn)家里進小偷了。)

One time we went out fishing on the lake at night. (有一次,我們晚上跑去湖邊釣魚。)

She came round to tea one time, and we did our homework together. (有一次她來我家喝茶,然后我們一起做作業(yè)。)

3. on one occasion : use this to give an example of when something you are talking about happened, especially when it is a particularly interesting or extreme example 舉一個過去的例子

例:

On one occasion, she rang his home and a strange woman answered. (有一次,她打電話到他家,是一個陌生女人接的電話。)

He drinks far too much. On one occasion I saw him drink a whole bottle of vodka. (他喝得太兇了,有一次我看見他喝了一整瓶伏特加。)

On one occasion I made the mistake of arriving at work late and my boss has never let me forget it. (有一次,我上班遲到,老板狠狠地批評了我,讓我終身難忘。)

4. at one stage : at one time during a period of time, process, or event in the past 過去的某一個時間點

例:

I dieted for many years, and at one stage I weighed only 71 kg. (我多年來一直節(jié)食,一度瘦到只有 71 公斤。)

It was a terrible winter. At one stage all the roads to the village were blocked by snow. (那個冬天奇冷無比,有一回通往村莊的路都被大雪封住了。)

5. at one point : at one time during an activity or period of time in the past 在過去某個活動中

例:

At one point in the interview, he seemed close to tears. (面試中,他曾經(jīng)差點落淚了。)

"You play the piano very well," I remember Mrs White remarking at one point. (“你鋼琴彈得很好?!蔽矣浀脩烟靥@樣評價我的琴藝。)

I had several narrow escapes during the war, at one point just missing death when my plane was shot down. (戰(zhàn)爭中我有幾次死里逃生的經(jīng)歷,有一次我開的飛機被打下來,我差點就死了。)

6. one day : on a day in the past - use this especially when the exact day does not matter and you are telling the story of what happened 有一天

例:

I was sitting eating my breakfast one day when the telephone rang. (有一天早上,我正在坐著吃早飯,電話突然響了。)

Then, one day he went away and never came back. (后來有一天,他走了,以后就再也沒回來過。)

One day, when we had nothing else to do, we went for a swim in the river. (有一天,我們沒事干,就去河里游泳。)
