1. con man/con artist/scam artist: someone who tries to get money from people by tricking them 騙錢的騙子

備注:''con man/con artist/scam artist''常用于口語中。

例:

A pair of con men have been tricking older people in the community out of their life savings. (有兩個騙子騙走了社區(qū)里很多老人的全部積蓄。)

She gave $11,000 to two con artists who pretended to be bank officials. (有兩個騙子假裝是銀行職員,她被他們騙了$11,000。)

Petty scam artists victimize tourists on the streets. (有些騙子在路上欺騙游客。)

2. crook: a dishonest person who steals things or tricks people 不誠實的人

備注:''crook''常用于非正式的場合。

例:

6. snake-oil salesman/peddler: someone who deceives people by persuading them to accept false information, solutions etc that are not effective 江湖騙子,糊弄人相信虛假信息或無效之物的人

例:

Late night TV is full of snake-oil salesmen offering get-rich-quick schemes. (晚間節(jié)目盡是江湖騙子講授快速致富法門。)

7. cheat: 騙子

備注:美式英語中常用''cheater''。

例:

My grandmother thinks all car salesmen are cheats. (我奶奶覺得所有賣車的都是騙子。)

I'll never play cards with you again, you cheater!(我不會再跟你打牌了。你這個騙子?。?/span>

8. swindler: someone who regularly cheats people or organizations to get money 經(jīng)常騙錢的騙子

例:

That firm is a bunch of swindlers. Don't pay them anything until the goods have been delivered and checked. (這就是個騙子公司,在收到貨之前千萬別付錢。)


I wasn't going to let any kid of mine work among those swindlers on Wall Street. (我不會讓我的孩子們?nèi)トA爾街跟那些騙子一起做事。)
