1. What it's really asking is 'where do you see yourself in three months'? Sitting next to your girlfriend or hitting on a bridesmaid?

(1) R.S.V.P : used on invitations to ask the invited guests to indicate whether they will be able to attend

R.S.V.P 來源于法語 ''R é pondez s'il vous pla?t.'' ,即 ''Reply, if you please.''

接到注有 R.S.V.P.

劇中是一張“婚禮請柬”,下面有兩個選項 ''I'll be coming alone'' (單獨出席)以及 ''I'll be bringing a guest'' (攜帶伴侶),盡早回復,有利于主人安排人數(shù)、預定座位、點菜等等。

2 hit on somebody: to talk to someone in order to try to start a sexual relationship

She's always being hit on at the gym.

Some drunk at the bar was hitting on her.

???? ?pick somebody up: to meet and begin a usually brief sexual relationship with someone

例:

She used to go to bars to pick up men.

She said some guy tried to pick her up at the bar.

make a pass at somebody: to do or say something that clearly shows that you want to begin a romantic or sexual relationship with someone 調(diào)戲

例:

He made a pass at his wife's friend.

?

2. Barney: You don't bring a date to a wedding. That's like bringing a deer carcass on a hunting trip. Oh Ted, oh Ted, no, no date.

Ted: Deer carcass, really? That's the metaphor you're going with here?

Barney: Ted, it's a simile . ?

解析:

(1) metaphor simile

''She's as fierce as a tiger'' is a simile, but ''She's a tiger when she's angry'' is a metaphor.

(2) go with: to choose or use

例:

After thinking about who to offer the job to, they decided to go with the more experienced candidate.

?

3. Ted: If I don't bring a date, a $200 piece of chicken- slash -salmon will go uneaten . ?

(1) slash: the mark ''/''

Chandler: Are you wearing makeup?

Joey: Yes, I am. As of today, I am officially Joey Tribbiani, actor slash model.

大意:

Chandler:

Joey:

The tire went flat.

French bread goes stale very quickly.

The company went bankrupt.

Everything keeps going wrong.

Ted: Oh, come on, you know damn well I move out that room's going unused .

  • A+
