老外喜歡開派對是出了名的，派對的種類也不一而足，我們來看看吧。

1. 生日派對a birthday party：
例：
They first met at her sister's 18th
birthday party. （他們是在她姐姐18歲生日派對上認識的。）
2. 節(jié)日派對a Christmas/Halloween etc. Party：
例：
I hope you're going to the office Christmas
party. （我希望你會去公司的圣誕派對。）
3. 晚宴a dinner party: a
party where people are invited to someone's house for an evening meal
例：
I first met him at a dinner party.（我是在一個晚宴上認識他的。）
4. 雞尾酒會a cocktail party（美式英語），drinks party（英式英語）: a party that people go to in order to talk and have a drink together
for a few hours
例：
I first met him at a cocktail party at the
American embassy. （我跟他初次見面是在美國大使館的雞尾酒會上。）
備注：
雞尾酒會通常都會有酒水及小食招待，嘉賓基本都是站著，在場內走動相互交談。雞尾酒會的著裝雖然不要求西裝領帶，但是也不能太隨意，男士作平時的商務打扮即可，以深色的西裝為主，女士則要選擇一條雞尾酒裙cocktail dress。
5. 化裝舞會a fancy dress party（英式英語）, a
costume party（美式英語）

6. 告別單身的派對：

7. 送禮物給即將結婚的女性的派對wedding shower（美式英語）: an event at which people give presents to a woman who is going to
get married
8. 送禮物給即將分娩的女性的派對baby shower（美式英語）: an event at which people give presents to a woman who is going to expect
a baby
備注：
''baby shower''上送的禮物自然大部分都是嬰兒用品。
9. 公司聚會an office party：
備注：舉辦地點在公司的聚會。
例：
I danced with my boss at the office party. （在公司聚會上，我和老板跳了舞。）
10. 喬遷派對housewarming (party):
a party that you have when you move into a new house
例：
We're having a housewarming next week.（我們下周要辦個喬遷派對。）
11. 歡送派對a farewell/leaving party：
例：
You didn't come to Ken's farewell party,
did you? （你沒來參加肯的歡送派對，是不是？）
12. 街頭狂歡a street party：
例：
Thousands flocked to the street party on
Princeton Street to celebrate New Year.（上萬人涌向普林斯頓街參加街頭狂歡，慶祝新年。）
13. 家門口的聚會a block party: a party
that is held outdoors for all the people who live in a neighborhood or city block
14. 驚喜派對a surprise party：
例：
Lily has planned a surprise party for her boyfriend's birthday. （莉莉為她男朋友準備了個驚喜生日派對。）
